Defense-quality power supplies designed to meet demanding specifications for applications in harsh environments.
Product design features include AC or DC MIL-STD inputs, single or multiple output voltages, and power levels up to 30kW. Featuring a wide range of cooling and EMI solutions, these products support airborne, shipboard, vehicle and ground-based military applications. Rantec’s custom products typically meet or exceed the requirements of MIL-STD 704, MIL-STD 1399, MIL-STD 1275, and MIL-STD 461.
Our customer required an exceptionally rugged, vehicle-based power supply for a tracked vehicle, designed to operate reliably in harsh environments and detect and crowbar outputs during a nuclear event. Additionally, the power supply needed to fit within a uniquely cramped physical space. Rantec was selected, qualified, and continues to produce this critical solution.
In response to a Joint Urgent Operational Need (JUON) request, we partnered with our customer to create a customized liquid cooled radar power supply, developed in tandem with their new battlefield radar system. By prioritizing this project and dedicating the necessary resources, we were able to develop cutting edge technology and test our product within 12 months. Our close collaboration with the customer has allowed us to continuously adapt the power supply to meet evolving radar mission needs, ensuring that it remains in production and highly relevant today.
Our customer needed to modernize an aging and obsolete power system originally manufactured by another supplier. They contracted Rantec to design a state-of-the-art, spec-compliant suite of power supplies that was able to work synergistically with existing legacy products. A key advantage of a Rantec design is our proactive approach to managing component obsolescence, ensuring longevity and reliability. Rantec designed, qualified, and continues to produce these power supplies today.
Our customer selected a commercial product that required ruggedization to meet military-grade standards for the intended application as well as utilize MIL-STD-704 input power. Leveraging our extensive experience in designing electronics for harsh environments, Rantec was contracted to analyze the existing design and identify components that needed replacement, redesign, or ruggedization in addition to designing a custom power supply that communicates with the switch’s proprietary interface. We were then tasked with implementing the recommendations, delivering a ruggedized solution suitable for the intended airborne application. Rantec remains in production of these ruggedized products today.
Rantec has saved our customers money, time, and space by delivering our power supplies pre-mounted within the customer’s next higher assembly and perform all ATP and ESS. This service eliminates the need for additional assembly work on their end. This approach remains in production today, continuing to provide significant efficiencies for our customers.
Our customer required a new source for a highly reliable power supply that would operate in an extremely harsh airborne environment in a critical defensive application. The modern approach was designed for high-rate production and met the highest levels of corrosive environments. Rantec was selected, qualified and remains in production today.
Our customer required a compact power supply for a portable or vehicle-mounted radar. Based on our proven experience and performance with a previous radar power supply, the customer selected Rantec for this requirement. The power supply was selected, qualified, and remains in production today.
In support of VME open architecture programs, Rantec developed and qualified a family 6U multi-output power supplies for military applications. As more customers needed VME power supplies with new requirements like input voltage, output voltage and power, EMI, and unique cooling approaches, Rantec leveraged these existing designs to develop and qualify 30+ platform specific VME products that weren’t available in the off-the-shelf marketplace. Many of these remain in production today.
