Parts Selection and Control

Rantec Power Systems Inc. is fully aware of the issues of counterfeit parts, tin whisker growth, and proper selection of parts to meet specific military environments. Our processes for parts selection and control promote the usage of Rantec preferred parts with the attendant advantages of improved quality, reliability and cost effectiveness. Rantec’s considerable experience in commercial, industrial and military grade power components for military applications has resulted in an extensive line of components for use in our programs.

Counterfeit Parts

Rantec purchasing and inspection personnel follow strict guidelines to prevent the introduction of counterfeit parts into our product lines, which are also flowed down to our suppliers. We purchase only from OEMs or Franchised Distributors. Purchasing from Brokers requires approval from our customers, and will always require testing and verification that it is the correct component.

Tin Whisker Mitigation

Rantec Power Systems Inc. has determined that the appropriate control level for Rantec products is Control Level 2B as described in GEIA-STD-0005-2. Our Tin Whisker Mitigation and Control Plan, available upon request for our customers, addresses Rantec’s approach to Control Level 2B. A program specific Tin-Whisker Mitigation plan tailored to the specific needs of a program is created when appropriate.
