Rantec Power Systems is a U.S.-based manufacturer of rugged power supplies and power conversion products, headquartered in Los Osos, California—a small coastal town tucked between the Pacific Ocean and California’s agricultural heartland.
While Los Osos has a population of roughly 15,000, the engineering and manufacturing work performed here supports critical defense programs deployed worldwide. Rantec employs over 200 people, drawing experienced engineers, technicians, and manufacturing professionals from across San Luis Obispo County and surrounding communities.
Rooted in the Central Coast
Our location near California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) plays a key role in developing the next generation of engineers and manufacturing professionals. We regularly bring on interns and early-career engineers who gain hands-on experience across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations. At the same time, our Los Osos facility supports long-term careers in high-reliability electronics manufacturing—providing stable, skilled jobs that contribute to the local community.
To support continued growth, Rantec also operates a second manufacturing facility in Layton, Utah, near Hill Air Force Base. This site expands our production capacity while strengthening our ability to recruit and retain a highly skilled workforce across multiple regions.
Designing and Manufacturing Critical Power Systems
From within the brisk coastal fog, Rantec designs, manufactures, and tests high-reliability power conversion products for some of the most demanding military and aerospace applications. All products are developed and built in-house, allowing for tight control over performance, quality, and long-term reliability.
