Position Summary

Provide quality assurance engineering support to product realization processes (requirements review/planning, design development, procurement, and production). Perform quality engineering functional role in material review disposition, communicate and ensure compliance to customer requirements from design to delivery.  When called upon, represent Rantec in customer facing roles related to quality assurance and provide leadership on quality related issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide training, give presentations, lead small groups, articulate decisions, listen well, and write and speak persuasively.
  • Support the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) and its compliance to AS9100D.  Provide leadership as needed in AS9100 matters.
  • Perform audits of areas, processes, and procedures including internal QMS audits.
  • Perform Contract review to assess Rantec’s ability to comply with contractual obligations.
  • Work with vendors to resolve technical issues.  Audit vendor locations. Assess vendor ability to control their key manufacturing processes. Disposition incoming defective material. Develop suppliers to improve performance. Provide mentorship to junior Engineers.
  • Create inspection methods.  Write inspection plans. Train inspection methods and tool use.
  • Be Subject Matter Expert for product conformance decisions.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Participate in and respond to customer quality assessments and audits.
  • Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action teams.
  • Train QA employees in subject areas such as ESD and FOD control, QMS procedures.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities.  Lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Create Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) documents, such as Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Process Control Plans (PCP), and Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility Studies. 
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all Rantec and regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
  • As the Company’s success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required.
  • Perform related duties of Quality department as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • BS degree in a technical field desirable. 
  • Minimum 7 years QA Engineer experience, preferably in an Aerospace design and manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in working in an organization certified to an AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and AS9145 is desired.
  • Knowledge of Variation Management techniques and AS9103 is desired.
  • Knowledge of First Article Inspection in accordance with AS9102 is desired.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical inspection requirements, including current industry workmanship standards (J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610).
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean or 6 Sigma is desired.
  • Strong experience in Root Cause techniques like 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams are required.
  • Knowledge of statistical tools such as SPC, Process Capability, Measurement System Analysis, Test of Hypothesis and Designs of Experiment are desired.
  • Proven successful presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.  Proven ability to successfully articulate decisions, initiatives and trainings to coworkers and customers.
  • Experience with multitasking.
  • Dependable assertive self-starter, that works with all functions of the organization and team on time.
  • Excellent knowledge & ability with Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on solid reasoning regarding acceptance/rejection of materials.

Salary Range: $79,000 - $100,000 Annually
